Into Arms of Strangers
We saw a movie called into arms of strangers and it was about these kids that were sent to England to be away from the war and from Hitler. Before they started to experience the war they had good lives and were happy. One of the people who went on the kindertransport saddest experience before the Holocaust was when her mom threw her a party and she invited some school friends but none of them came. Another Jewish boy was walking down the street one day and these German kids jumped him and threw him through a plate glass window. The beginning of the war wasn't a big deal and then it became a big deal. When the kids started going on the kindertransport they would arrive in England about 300 kids every week. Some of the kids got taken in by families with other children and were treated nicely but other kids were token in to become a servant. When kids started writing to their parents they kept asking if they would come to England to live with them. Some parents got a visa and all the paperwork they needed to go to England but never went or just went back to Germany or Australia. When the kids got off the train each one had an escort and once they kid got their luggage and everything the escorts were sent home so the kids had to wait until they got picked up. Some kids went to live in an orphanage. When the German soldiers started bombing England they let Jewish kids that were 16 and older had to leave. The only way for the kids to get out was if they joined the British army so most of the guys did. One girl went with her uncle billy to hide out in the country every night but one day the person they stayed with said she doesn't want Jewish kids in her house so they left. This movie was super good but really sad.☺
